It's going to be a gurt proper festive weekend in Shepton with all the Christmas-themed events to get you into the festive spirit.

Shepton Mallet Lantern Festival Workshop - Saturday and Sunday 10:00–16:00 Paul Street Community Centre

The theme for this year's Shepton Mallet Lantern Parade is WILD THINGS and there's another lantern-making workshop coming up this weekend r to help you make your masterpiece! Help is on hand and the workshops are free to attend, with a small charge for materials.

Families are particularly welcome. Paul St Community Centre, 3rd and 4th December, 10.00 - 16.00. Children must be accompanied.

Toy & Train Collectors Fair - Sun, 10:30–14:30 The Bath & West Showground

Catering for all collectors, you can walk around in the aisles looking for those elusive models that you have always been looking for. The list is endless. Dinky, Corgi, Comics, Minichamps, Hornby, Bassett Lowke, Meccano, Spot-On, Sci-Fi, Marklin, Matchbox, Scalextric, EFE, Lledo, Action man, Scalextric, Dolls and Teddies.

There are literally thousands of models and so much much more can all be found in the Showering Pavilion and on the Balcony.

There is free parking for 3000 cars and the hall is only a short walk from the car park and you can stop for refreshments in the Wessex Restaurant serving breakfasts and lunches tea and coffee.

It's the Wilde Things LGBTQ celebration with uplifting music from DJ Joolz

The Masters of MADNESS - Sat, 19:30–22:30, The Bath & West Showground

Looking for something to do this Christmas with your friends / family / colleagues? How about a Christmas Party with One Step Behind – The Masters of Madness!

One Step Behind is the UK's Premier and longest-surviving MADNESS tribute band. Formed in the Spring 1993, the band achieved widespread recognition in an unusually short time, playing venues the length and breadth of Britain. Members of Madness have joined the One Step boys on stage on a number of occasions.

Make a willow stags head - Sat, 10:00–14:00, 8 Town St, Shepton Mallet

Use willow to create a 3D sculpture of a stag's head for your Christmas display, it will look great with fairy lights or baubles

Angela is an experienced tutor who will help and encourage you to achieve your own sculpture. Bring a packed lunch or buy your lunch in town.

There is some heating but dress warmly (bring a hot water bottle if it is very cold weather!) Dress for 'mess'

Pop-up Christmas Fair at Kilver Court - Fri 2 Dec – Sat 3 Dec, Kilver Court, Kilver St

Kilver Court is offering the perfect way to get into the festive spirit this year by hosting a special 'Pop-Up' Christmas extravaganza. Following the success last year, the shopping centre will be supporting local charity PromiseWorks throughout the pop-up events. This year's pop-up events will take place on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3.

Entry is free and doors will open from 10am until 5pm.

Santa Specials 2022 - 3–24 Dec, East Somerset Railway - (Cranmore Station), Cranmore

Train rides with Santa are back on the agenda again, with the East Somerset Railway now offering Santa Special train rides.

Tickets include a 30 minutes ride on the Santa Special train, then cross the line to the North Pole Station where you can visit Santa and receive a gift (if you have been good, of course!) 

There will be a Goody Bag for every child to take onto the train which will contain colouring sheets, crayons and a family Santa quiz sheet. Threre will also be a balloon modeller on the platform . Refreshments will be served at the North Pole - including mulled wine and mince pies.
