Whatley Quarry open day on September 18 postponed 'as a mark of respect'

The open day planned at Hanson's Whatley Quarrey not far from Shepton Mallet, has been postponed.

The quarry was due to be opening to the public on Sunday (September 18) with family activities, machinery displays and tours, but the decisio has been taken to postpone the event, with a new date to be annouced soon.

Hanson operations manager Vincent Pitt just told Nub News: "We are all deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family as we share our heartfelt condolences and join those in the UK and across the world in mourning her loss.

 "As we are in a period of national mourning, we have taken the decision to postpone our Whatley quarry open day scheduled for 18 September. 18 A revised date will be shared soon."

Hanson's Whatley quarry near Frome, was going to be open to the public this coming Sunday from 10.30am to 3pm on Sunday, September 18.
