This weekend, in celebration of the Glastonbury Festival's 50th anniversary, with the help of emergency Arts Council and National Lottery Funding, national non-profit community enterprise STEAM Co will be igniting and inspiring creativity across Britain, live streaming a three-day festival, as if it was at Worthy Farm in Pilton.

Encouraging Brits, young and old, to showcase their art centre stage, the #YourGlasto weekend led by STEAM Co's Nick Corston and artist Mulumba Tshikuka will be a live streamed virtual extravaganza, featuring creative workshops, a beer tasting festival thanks to Co-Op Food, DJ sets from the likes of Danny Rampling and uplifting performances from local community heroes, alongside world famous acts around the UK.

Brookside Academy in Street have offered their playground as the location for the virtual Pyramid Stage, and the pupils of the school are also involved in the digital festival.

Among the stars scheduled to appear virtually are Martin and Gary Kemp, Sex Pistols co-founder Glen Matlock, and David Bowie's guitarist Earl Slick.

Kicking the weekend off live today (June 26), the festival will be running all weekend. STEAM Co will be launching a dynamite rocket at 10am today, which will be filmed landing in back yards of families across the UK throughout the weekend.

The aim of this festival is to inspire creativity among British families, and ultimately in the country's schools, encouraging everyone to celebrate their own art and let it take centre stage.

Nick said: "When we heard Glastonbury 2020 wouldn't be happening in Farmer Eavis's fields this year, we thought, how can we make it happen in the bedrooms, living rooms, gardens and home-made Pyramid Stages across the country over the weekend.

"Could we convince a host of guests to celebrate and inspire creativity across Britain in line with the Arts Council England's #LetsCreate strategy?

"It's a dream come true to be able to empower people and celebrate everyone's creativity with this one of a kind festival and hope that it inspires young children and adults to share and make art together and discover a passion and ability they'd forgotten they had, all from the comfort of their own homes.

"Art is what we call it when what we do might connect us. It might be drawing, dancing or DJing, cooking, or coding, science or skateboarding, fashion or football.

"We have to help connect our kids with their art, something they can be passionate about. Work at. Excel in. And we have to get them in primary. We have to help them aim high as rockets, higher even."

Families across the country can get involved this weekend, by building their own Pyramid Stage art galleries, out of loo rolls or carpet tubes and cardboard in a workshop with cardboard artist Will Alexander, who will sit inside a full size tube train he has made from cardboard.

Once they've created their Pyramid Stage a theatre company will show them how to make their own productions and create stop motion animations.

Other workshops over the weekend will inspire them to make other art forms to go inside their own art gallery and share on social media with the hashtag #MyGlasto50 and tag @ST3AMCo.
