Evercreech residents are being urged to have their say over the village's skate park as the parish council embarks on a £30,000 project to reinstate the facility.

A Skate Park survey is being held so Evercreech Parish Council can prioritise the needs of local residents and show support from the community as it bids for grant funding.

The ramps at the park in Weston Town were removed because they were unsafe, and £30,000 is now needed to rebuild the facility.

The parish council will use the feedback from the survey in support of its application to Mendip District Council's Community Fund in its bid for funding for this facility for local teens and other skate users.

Councillor Barry O'Leary said: "Many of you have contacted the parish council to ask why the skate park has been taken away or why it's been shut down as a facility, and quite simply the facility was unsafe.

"Now, we're not going to stand idly by and so the parish council has asked me to help them publicise the fact that we're applying for grants to reinstate a skate park.

"But to do this we need your help. So we're conducting a survey to understand what the people who use the skate park need and want to see.

"And importantly, we're also conducted a survey, so that when we go to fundraise for grant applications, we can highlight that their support for a local facility. Our people or young people need facilities.

"So we have a hard standing area, but we no longer have a facility, and it's really vital we have facility back, so please could you fill out our survey and let us know what you would like to see here."
