Shepton Mallet will mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a special community celebration hosted by the Mid-Somerset Show.

The event, taking place on Wednesday 8 May from 7pm at the Mid-Somerset Showground (BA4 4GF), promises an evening of music, nostalgia, and family-friendly entertainment to commemorate the end of the Second World War.

Live music from the Harlem Rhythm Cats will set the tone for the evening, while a classic car show will see a prize awarded for the best-presented vehicle—no booking required, just turn up on the day. A fancy dress competition, open to both adults and children, will encourage attendees to embrace the 1940s and WW2 theme.

Other highlights include beacon lighting, face painting, an ice cream stall, fish and chips, and a licensed bar. Entry is free, and on-site parking is available.
