Two people dead and two rushed to hospital after car crash near Cranmore

Two people have died following a serious two-car collision on the A361 near Cranmore, Shepton Mallet, this afternoon (Sunday, January 12).

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.50pm. Both individuals who died were travelling in the same vehicle. Their next of kin have been informed, and police have expressed their condolences.

Two people from the other car were taken to hospital by ambulance. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The A361 remains closed to allow collision investigators to examine the scene and for the recovery of the vehicles involved. Road closures are in place at Piers Road, Tansey, Farrington Lane, Merryfield Lane, and Chelynch Road. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to get in touch. If you have information, call 101 and quote reference 5225009454.
