Firefighters freed a passenger who had been trapped following a car crash on the A371 near Evercreech in the early hours of this morning (May 13).

At about 2.45am, one fire engine from Castle Cary and one from Shepton Mallet were sent to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision close to Evercreech Junction.

On arrival crews confirmed this car had collided with a roadside wall and the driver was already out of the vehicle, but the passenger was still trapped inside.

Crews released the passenger by removing the passenger side front door with hydraulic cutting equipment.

Both casualties were then left in the hands of the ambulance crew who were on scene.
