Time is running out to have your say on a new housing development in Evercreech.

The application, by M7 for 56 homes (including 30% affordable housing) and a convenience store on land east of Prestleigh Road has been submitted to the district council and interested parties have until January 24 to have their say on the development.

According to the developer, the homes will be predominantly two- and three-bedroom properties, and will be built with sustainability in mind with solar power generation and electric charging points. A new convenience store will also be built as part of the development.

A number of residents have already contacted the council to voice their objection to the scheme. Concerns have also been raised about the development by the NHS, who are worried that additional residents could add strain to Evercreech Surgery, while Somerset Waste Partnership say the design of the access road to the proposed estate would cause problems for their collection vehicles.

However, a number of other bodies consulted by the developers, including Avon and Somerset Police say they have no objections to the plans.
