OPINION: Frustrated by slow Glastonbury Festival livestream response and sound quality issues

Shepton Mallet resident Trevor Lethaby was one of the many Live at Worthy Farm ticket purchasers. Here he writes about his experience of the Glastonbury Festival livestream event:

After buying a £20 ticket, and donating a sum of money to charity, we sat down just before 7pm on Saturday to access the live stream.

My partner had been emailed a link to the stream along with an access code. Along with thousands of other Glastonbury fans we attempted to access the site, but were immediately frustrated when an Invalid Code message appeared on our TV screen.

Despite trying several times, we couldn't get access. It was evident from looking at social media that we weren't the only ones.

As time went on it was obvious that there were technical difficulties and hundreds of frustrated and annoyed punters were expressing their feelings on the various social media platforms.

Finally, at 9pm we were sent a link, by a friend, who had been sent it by the organisers. We managed to get access and were able to watch the stream starting with Coldplay.

Unfortunately, we were unable to rewind so missed Wolf Alice and The Idles, both of whom we wanted to catch.

However, my partner received an email early on Sunday morning with a link to catch the whole event again at 2pm today (Sunday).

I'm pleased to report that this link worked and we were able to catch up the acts we had missed, although we struggled with sound quality and syncing issues.

Final thoughts:

It was a pity that it took so long before anyone responded from the organisers, although I'm sure they had their work cut out to get things working.

The music selection was varied and although we watched the whole set, apart from the DJing, not all of it was to our liking.
