The town that saved its library - the book - coming soon!

Starting in this month there will be a competition open to primary schools in (and around Shepton Mallet) to help illustrate a picture book called The Town that Saved its Library. See future posts for the details of the prizes!

Once the pictures have been drawn and submitted these will then be collated into a picture book that will be launched at Literally Shepton in November 2022.

As this book will be self published, the authors will be launching a crowdfunder in March where people can order copies of the book (as well as gain some extra rewards). All costs will be going towards the publishing and not the authors!

The authors feel that the story of the Shepton Mallet library is a special and important one and we want the legacy of the people and community that fought so hard to keep it open and in the Marketplace to be remembered by the coming generations.

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  1. Encourage your children to draw pictures for the book (entry forms will be available from Shepton Library as well as the local schools )
  1. Pledge some money towards our Kickstarter campaign (launching in March 2022)
  1. Share and like our pages - show your love for your local town. Find us on Facebook and Twitter!
  1. Use the local library - we need to make sure that this cannot happen again
  1. Look out for events that are associated with this project and support 7 Starlings CIC and the Mendip Children's Book Group
