Students from Shepton Mallet and Evercreech have reflected on their grades after results day and are now looking to the future.

Emmie Thomas, from Shepton Mallet, went to Strode College in Street after attending Wells Blue School, and achieved a Distinction in her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design.

She said: "I wasn't originally going to college - I wasn't sure what to do.

"But after going to Open Evenings and visiting Strode, I decided to give it a go. So I am really happy with the results I achieved.

"With the support from the excellent staff at Strode, I have proved to myself that I can achieve what I want.

"I particularly like that Strode values individuals and promotes diversity, and like the fact that they have introduced gender neutral toilets, for example."

Jasmine Holdway, from Evercreech, also went to Strode, where she achieved grades of D*D*D* in her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport.

She previously attended Ansford Academy, and is now planning to take a gap year to gain experience teaching sport on cruise ships, then university next year.

"I'm so happy, I was hoping to do well but didn't believe I would get the top grade," she said.
