St Cecilia Care Home in Shepton Mallet hosted a Mediterranean-themed afternoon with music and cuisine, fostering enjoyment and social engagement for residents.

Residents at St Cecilia Care Home in Shepton Mallet were transported to the Mediterranean for an afternoon with olives, roasted tomatoes, pitta and hummus — plus themed music to match.

The bespoke menu offered southern European favourites, while more familiar options such as jacket potatoes, cheese and sandwiches were also on hand. Manager Tracy Woolfrey said the meals are about more than flavour: "They give residents a chance to sample new dishes… it's about enjoyment, engagement, and social time together."

Soft Mediterranean tunes played, with classics like Volare and O Sole Mio setting a gentle, sunny atmosphere. In the photo, resident Nigel Tilley is pictured sampling one of the dishes.

St Cecilia is part of the family-run White Care Group, which operates other care homes in Glastonbury and Taunton.
