What’s on in Shepton this week: Student rock, pop and more

By Laura Linham   20th Nov 2025

The area is offering live music, repairs, and community events in late November.
The area is offering live music, repairs, and community events in late November.

What's On in Shepton Mallet is brought to you by the Bath & West Showground — home to the biggest events in Somerset — and La Bella Italian Restaurant.

And if you've got an event that isn't listed here, don't panic – you can nub your event for free right here.

Post-carnival, Shepton’s keeping things low-key this week, but there’s still a standout: Strode College students are taking over The Art Bank with a free Rock & Pop Showcase. Expect guitars, enthusiasm and a room full of proud mates clutching pints.

If you're hosting something gloriously odd like interpretive dance for pigeons or a community séance for lost socks, you can nub your event for free on your local site.

Starting on Thursday 20 November, Ferne Animal Sanctuary is holding a Community Conversation at The Hub, giving locals a chance to quiz the team, share ideas and hear what's happening behind the scenes. It runs from 5.30 pm to 7 pm, so ideal if you fancy a midweek update without committing to mucking out an alpaca.

From Friday 21 November through to Sunday 23 November, The Ammerdown Centre is offering a discounted two-night autumn stay. Think quiet reflection, peaceful grounds, and the option to escape to Bath or Bristol for Christmas shopping without actually staying in either city.

On Saturday 22 November, Glastonbury Repair Café returns at St Edmund's Community Hall with volunteers ready to fix your broken lamps, wobbly chairs, misbehaving electronics and questionable laptops. There's homemade cake too, because nothing motivates a "while you're here…" repair request quite like sponge.

Also on 22 November, Theale Village Hall hosts an evening of Americana, country and blues with Hopeville. It's £10 on the door, and the bar's open — exactly the kind of night where you accidentally end up two-stepping with someone you went to school with.

Over in Wells on the same day, Wells & Mendip Museum is going full vino with an Italian Wine Tasting session. Expect swirling, sniffing and someone insisting they can "definitely taste the oak".

Later in the week, on Thursday 27 November, The Art Bank in Shepton Mallet lets Strode College students loose with its Rock & Pop Showcase. It's free entry, which is ideal if you enjoy live music and your wallet is currently giving Victorian orphan energy.

And from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 November, the Stitching4All Show takes over the Bath & West Showground with quilting, festive crafts, sewing masterclasses and enough fabric to make every relative a handmade Christmas gift whether they want one or not.

If you're running something between the cracks — a lunchtime lecture, a wreath-making workshop, or a badly timed conker tournament — you can add it to the What's On pages for free.

Got something quirky, cosy or mildly chaotic on the way? You can add your event to the Glastonbury What's On page for free.
