Shepton Mallet springs to life with a weekend of crafts, classics, and community spirit

This weekend, Shepton Mallet is a hive of activity, offering something special for everyone.
As always, we're hugely grateful to the Bath and West Showground for sponsoring Nub News and ensuring that we can bring you local news for free, without popups, clickbaits or surveys. We're also hugely looking forward to the food festival, which they're hosting later this month!
Kickstarting with the Willow Bird Workshop on Saturday, 9th March, where participants can create a life-sized willow heron. Suitable for beginners with nimble fingers, the workshop runs from 10 am to 2 pm and costs £60. Booking is essential, and more details are available here.
For motorcycle enthusiasts, the VMCC Autojumble at the Bath and West Showground is not to be missed. Taking place on Saturday, 9th March, it features three large indoor halls and outdoor spaces filled with around 500 stalls selling everything from motorcycles and parts to clothing and accessories. Also on Saturday, the Repair Café and Skills Share at the Art Bank offers a chance to bring your broken items for repair, learn new skills, and even donate unwanted Smart Tech to the Fixy van. With free tea, coffee, and cake provided, it promises a rewarding and community-focused day. Full details are available here.
The Dorothy House Men's Walk to Support 2024 is another highlight, inviting men to come together for an 8-mile walk to raise vital funds for end-of-life care. Starting at Dorothy House, Winsley, at 11 am and finishing at the Bath Pavilion, participants will enjoy a free pint and food. Entry is £25, including a free t-shirt. Sign up here.
International Women's Day is celebrated with two events. The Hand Stitching & Embroidery workshop on Friday, 8th March, from 7 pm to 9 pm at The Old Stores Studio is a free creative session with SS&L subsidy. More information and booking can be found here. Following that, on Saturday, 9th March, from 2 pm to 10 pm, the Art Bank hosts an event full of inspirational talks, workshops, singing, and a late-night DJ.
Rounding off the weekend, the Antique & Collectors Fair returns to the Bath & West Showground from 15th to 17th March. With 600 stands offering a plethora of antiques and vintage items, it's the premier event for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Find more details here.
