Shepton Mallet has a full weekend of events lined up, with live music, a pop quiz, and a massive flea market at the Bath & West Showground.

Whether you're up for a lively night out at The Art Bank with Bex McGinty or DJ Simes, or looking for unique finds at the Giant Flea Market, there’s something happening for all interests.

Highlights include the Electronic Music Open Mic at The White Hart on Friday and the Songs for Peace singing workshop at Ammerdown on Sunday.

On Friday, 28th February, the Electronic Music Open Mic at The White Hart in Wells offers a platform for local artists working with electronic music. Expect a variety of styles, from ambient soundscapes to techno and experimental beats. Performers can sign up for a 15-minute slot to share their music. Also on Friday, Bex McGinty will be performing at The Art Bank in Shepton Mallet. A master of live looping and intricate guitar work, her set blends Spanish guitar rhythms with layered electronic effects. Doors open at 7pm, with tickets available at different price levels. On Saturday, 1st March, the Muse Course begins in Glastonbury. This four-weekend creative programme, led by Priestess Artist Susie Quatermass, is designed to help participants reconnect with their artistic inspiration through clay, paint, words, and found objects. Sessions take place both indoors at Goddess Hall and out on the land in Avalon. No previous experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. More information is available at Muse Course.

The Music Connections Pop Quiz takes place at The Art Bank in Shepton Mallet on Saturday evening. Teams of up to six can test their knowledge of pop music history across six rounds, with a disco hosted by DJ Simes following the quiz. Also on Saturday, Glastonbury Calling 2025 takes place across multiple venues in the town, showcasing a range of artists from different genres. The festival runs throughout the day and night, with performances covering rock, indie, electronic, and folk. More details can be found at Glastonbury Calling.

For live music fans, 3 Daft Monkeys will be performing at Glastonbury Town Hall on Saturday evening. Known for their energetic blend of folk, ska, and world music, the band promises a lively night of music and dancing.

On Sunday, 2nd March, the Songs for Peace singing workshop takes place at the Ammerdown Centre in Radstock. Led by experienced choir leader Clara Atkins, the session is open to all abilities, with songs taught by ear in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Also on Sunday, the Giant Flea Market returns to the Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet. With over 250 stalls, the market offers a huge selection of vintage clothing, furniture, books, toys, antiques, and more.
