PureGym set to open in Shepton Mallet this April – recruitment underway

PureGym is set to open a new location in Shepton Mallet this April, taking over the former Laura Ashley branch at Townsend Business Park.
The site was originally earmarked by Snap Fitness, which had planned to open a gym there, but it now rivals PureGym will be running the facility instead.
The nationwide gym chain, known for its 24-hour access, flexible memberships, and extensive fitness equipment, is currently recruiting personal trainers and fitness coaches ahead of its launch.
Gym manager James Collins said, "With over 400 sites nationwide, Shepton Mallet will be of the same high standards as every other PureGym, offering a judgement-free space where everyone is welcome."
The new gym will operate 24 hours a day, with a contract-free membership model offering access to over 220 pieces of equipment and instructor-led fitness classes. Members will also benefit from free WiFi, free parking, and air-conditioned facilities.
A planning application to convert the former Laura Ashley store into a 24-hour gym was submitted in December and approved by Somerset Council on 15 January. The site will have CCTV coverage, with staff on-site from 7am to 9pm and emergency call points available for members outside of staffed hours.
