Shepton Mallet Sunday Market will bring the curtain down on Shepton Mid-Summer Fest this weekend with live music, independent traders, graffiti art and tower tours.

The market returns to Regal Way and the town centre on Sunday, 28 June, with more than 60 independent traders expected. The day will also mark the finale of Shepton Mid-Summer Fest, with music and activities planned across the town.

The School of Graff will be back with its graffiti wall and spray cans, giving visitors of all ages the chance to try spray painting. Independent shops in the town will also be open during the event.

Banco de Gaia will headline the Market Cross DJs as part of a full day of DJ sets. The festival finale will add another strand to the market, which is held on the last Sunday of the month.

There will also be live music on the Town Street Stage, starting with award-winning folk singer-songwriter and bagpiper Ruby Darbyshire from 10.15 am to 11 am and again from 11.30 am to 12.15 pm.

TwoManTing will perform from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm, bringing Afro-roots, acoustic dub and highlife sounds to the town centre. Singer-songwriter BE Cooling, from Toronto, Canada, will take to the stage from 2 pm to 3 pm.

The church will also be running tower tours, with booking available at a desk outside the Amulet. Animals from Twinnies will be in the churchyard as part of the day's activities.

Organisers said the cooler forecast after a hot week should make Sunday's market a "welcome breath of fresh air". Forecasts currently suggest Shepton Mallet will be around 20C during parts of the day, with rain or showers possible, so visitors may want to keep an eye on the sky as well as the stage.

The market is due to run from 10 am to 3 pm. Shepton Mid-Summer Fest has been running across the town from Thursday, 18 June, to Sunday, 28 June.

Shepton Sunday Market is back this weekend with traders, DJs, graffiti art, tower tours and actual bagpipes. Basically, the town centre has looked at a quiet Sunday and said: absolutely not.
