Shepton police target drifting and noisy vehicles
By Laura Linham 8th Oct 2026
Police covering the Shepton Mallet rural area are targeting anti-social driving following reports of drifting, revving engines and loud music. Officers made the issue a neighbourhood priority on Wednesday, 7 October, and are asking residents to help identify trouble spots.
The team says patrols are already taking place in areas where concerns have been raised. Information about where and when incidents happen will help officers direct those patrols more effectively.
Residents witnessing the behaviour are being asked to provide the exact location, date and time, along with vehicle registrations where possible. Makes, models, colours, the number of vehicles involved and descriptions of those responsible can also help.
The appeal comes from the Shepton Mallet Rural neighbourhood policing team. Its update does not identify particular roads or locations.
Avon and Somerset Police describes anti-social driving as vehicle-related activity causing alarm or distress. Examples include racing, drifting around corners, wheel spinning, tyre burnouts and excessive noise.
Incidents can be reported through the force's anti-social driving reporting page.
