Shepton police chase down suspects as £1,000 of stolen goods recovered

Three people were arrested in Shepton Mallet after a dramatic police chase through the town centre ended with a suspect found hiding in a garage — along with nearly £1,000 worth of stolen clothing.
Police were called yesterday after reports of a suspicious vehicle linked to recent thefts. Officers searching for the car spotted two men carrying bags of clothes who bolted. One man was detained immediately. The second ran but was tracked to a nearby garage, where he was found hiding with a woman.
All three were arrested at the scene. One of the men was recalled to prison.
The other was arrested over four outstanding thefts and remanded to court. Officers recovered all stolen goods and returned them to the store. The vehicle involved was also seized.
