Authorities are seeking the public's assistance in solving a case of damage to the Cenotaph in Shepton Mallet, believed to have occurred on Thursday, 25th May.

The Cenotaph, a memorial honouring the town's war veterans, sustained damage to its stonework during the incident.

According to officials, the damage appears to be vehicular in nature and police aree keen to gather any information or witness accounts related to the incident that may aid in their investigation.

"We believe that someone must have seen something," a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said:. "We're urging anyone who was in the vicinity of the Cenotaph on the day of the incident, or has any information that might be helpful, to come forward."

The official appeal requests that witnesses or individuals with relevant details call the non-emergency number, 101. Callers are asked to leave a message for Officer 6358 Riley, who is handling the investigation.
