Shepton Mallet's Peter Green Haulage reports sharp rise in profits and turnover

Shepton Mallet-based Peter Green Haulage has posted a sharp increase in both turnover and profits, capping off a strong year for the long-standing local firm.
The family-run business, which has operated out of Shepton since the 1960s, saw revenues rise to £26.9 million in the year ending 31 December 2024—a 6.5% increase on the previous year.
Nearly £3.3 million of that came from international operations, underlining the company's cross-border reach.
Pre-tax profits soared by almost 30%, climbing from £1.4 million to £1.8 million, while gross profit was up 10% to £5 million.
The firm, which specialises in chilled and frozen food transport and storage, said it had placed a major focus on fleet utilisation and cutting fixed transport costs in 2024—moves which have clearly paid off.
"Management are optimistic that the continued focus on utilisation, strengthening key partners and improving volumes will continue to improve results in 2025," the company said in its annual business review.
Peter Green Haulage operates with an international operator licence, allowing up to 80 HGVs from bases in both Shepton Mallet and Bridgwater.
