Shepton Mallet's high street is set for a significant boost with the reopening of 10 Market Place.
This historic site has been transformed by Interim Spaces, who have introduced new educational programmes and launched a retail incubator with The Little Farm Shed as its first beneficiary.
The charity has renovated the Grade II listed building to host a range of music, arts, and wellbeing classes. The Little Farm Shed, chosen from 27 candidates, is the first enterprise to benefit from the scheme, offering a rent-free space for nine months to trial their business idea on the high street.
The project breathes new life into a historic building and supports innovative business ideas, aiming to revitalise the high street.
10 Market Place has a rich history, stretching back to the 16th century, and has been carefully restored to serve the community once again. The renovation was funded by the Community Ownership Fund and the Somerset Community Foundation.
The Little Farm Shed, initially a small project by Laurel and Rosie to fund their Glastonbury Festival trip, has grown into a family business that supports local suppliers and brings fresh produce to the community.
Interim Spaces transforms empty buildings into vibrant spaces for artists, entrepreneurs, and community groups, with 10 Market Place being one of their latest projects to help creative and social enterprises.
The initiative is supported by the Community Ownership Fund and the Somerset Social Enterprise Fund, marking a step towards a more engaging and community-focused high street in Shepton Mallet.
