Young people across Shepton Mallet are being asked to speak up as a major consultation gets underway to fix a serious shortfall in youth services.
The Town Council has landed funding from the Somerset Association of Local Councils to run the project — and has brought in community group Make the Sunshine to lead the charge.
It comes after councillors flagged a lack of local support and opportunities for young people. The consultation will cover the entire Local Community Network area, from Ston Easton to East Pennard, home to around 28,000 people.
Make the Sunshine will work with schools, youth groups and public sector teams to find out what young people want — and what's missing.
They'll run creative workshops, gather feedback and speak directly to families and service providers to help shape a new youth strategy for the town.
Have your say
- Young people and families can fill in the survey
- Schools and local organisations can contact Make the Sunshine
All responses will feed into a community-led plan to boost youth services across Shepton Mallet and beyond.
