Shepton Mallet's high street has gained a creative boost with the launch of The Artistry, a pop‑up shop opened in July 2025 at 37 Town Street to support local makers and small creative enterprises.
In its first 10 weeks (17 July to 30 September), The Artistry hosted 32 traders, with nearly three‑quarters based locally in Shepton Mallet, and workshops proved popular in drawing new audiences to the space.
The store is overseen by a volunteer collective of Katie Gillard, Katrina Sheldon, Laura Murray and Natalie Veasey, who manage the shop, engage traders and programme events.
An estimated 2,000 visitors passed through in that period. With momentum building ahead of the Christmas season, the project is being viewed as a promising sign for Shepton Mallet's high street revival.
The Artistry was established through a partnership between Shepton Mallet Town Council and Interim Spaces, forming part of the town council's efforts to regenerate the local economy and support independent creative businesses.
