Shepton Mallet is gearing up for a weekend that's as jam-packed with events as a Christmas stocking on Christmas morning.

Let's start with the Leigh on Mendip's popular Christmas Tree Festival at St Giles Church on Saturday, 9th December. The church will be aglow with lavishly decorated Christmas trees from 11 am to 4 pm. With light meals, home-made cakes, and yes, mulled wine, it's the perfect start to your festive weekend. Find out more here.

Next up, we have the Shepton Mallet Repair Café at the Art Bank. On Saturday, 9th December, from 11 am to 1 pm, bring your broken treasures and watch them come back to life. It's not just a repair café; it's a masterclass in sustainability. More details are available here.

The St Margaret's Hospice Light Up a Life Service is inviting you to a heartfelt virtual event on Sunday, 10th December. Dedicate a star in memory of a loved one in their Virtual Night Sky. For more information, click here.

For a twist on traditional carols, head to the 501 Bar in Shepton Mallet on Thursday, 14th December. Enjoy mulled wine and classic carols in an acoustic setting.

Now, let's spotlight our sponsor, the Bath and West Showground, where Santa will be making a special appearance at the Bath and West Steam Railway on Saturday, 9th December. For just £13, a child can bring two adults, enjoy a train ride, a gift, and seasonal refreshments. Additional adults are just £5 each. Book your tickets here.

But wait, there's more! The Pilton Stage '24 Heat 2 at The Pilton Stage, is happening on Saturday, 9th December, from 7 pm to 11 pm. And for those who dare, join the Shepton Mallet Prison Ghost Hunt while you still can - on Saturday, 9th December.

Finally, the Giant Flea Market at the Bath and West Showground on Sunday, 10th December, is a must-visit. From 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, find unique items, ranging from retro furniture to vintage clothing and more. Admission is £5.00 per adult, with children free. Check out their Facebook page for updates!

So, whether you're looking for festive spirit, unique finds, or even a ghostly encounter, Shepton Mallet has you covered this weekend. Just remember to thank the Bath and West Showground for bringing all this festive cheer to your inbox!
