Shepton Mallet town meeting draws biggest turnout yet
By Laura Linham 23rd Apr 2026
Shepton Mallet Town Council has hailed its best turnout yet for the town's Annual Town Meeting.
Residents joined councillors at the Art Bank on Tuesday evening, 21 April, for what the council said was its biggest attendance so far at the yearly event.
In a message after the meeting, the council thanked residents for turning out and praised councillors for their input and participation during the evening.
The authority said it was encouraging to see so many people taking an interest in local issues and sharing their views.
The debates and questions during the meeting highlighted the wide range of work it is involved in across the town.
The strong turnout will be seen as a positive sign of local engagement, with the council making clear that residents' opinions and presence are always welcome.
Attention now turns to the next Full Council Meeting, which is due to take place on Monday, 28 April at 7 pm in the Council Chamber at Shape.
The Annual Town Meeting is one of the main chances each year for residents to hear more about the work of the council, raise questions and have their say on local matters.
