This weekend, Shepton Mallet is set to be a hive of activity, with a range of events that promise fun and camaraderie for both residents and visitors.

Kicking off the weekend's events is the Community Day at The Art Bank on 31 January. From 10 am the Art Bank will be alive with a variety of free activities. The Talking Cafe, led by the Mendip Health Connectors, offers a welcoming space for a chat and a cup of tea, while the Rubbish Art Project brings creative arts activities for all to enjoy. For those who love crafts, there's a crochet and chat session, and aspiring artists can join Watercolours with Pete.

Over at the Bath & West Showground, the Young Driver experience on Saturday, 27 January, provides an exciting opportunity for young drivers to learn the basics of driving in a safe environment. Following this, the Somerset Vintage & Classic Tractor Show will surely delight enthusiasts with a splendid display of vintage and classic tractors.

The Showground continues its flurry of activity on Sunday, 28 January, with the Toy & Train Collectors Fair from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. A paradise for collectors, the fair is set to showcase a fascinating range of toys and trains.

Meanwhile, the Shepton Mallet Library offers its Digital Cafe every Thursday, including 25 January and 1 February, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This initiative is perfect for anyone needing a bit of help with digital devices, offering free and friendly advice from the experts at SPARK-IT.

Music enthusiasts have a special treat in store at the Art Bank on 25 January from 7:45 pm to 9:45 pm, where The Jazz Disciples from Wells Cathedral School will perform an evening of jazz classics. Entry is free, and guests can enjoy hot food from the Three Pot Affair.

Shepton Mallet's historic Friday market, a staple since 1318, is set to transform the Market Place on 26 January from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. The market is more than just a shopping destination; it's a place where the community gathers, offering fresh produce, local crafts, and seasonal items.

For those looking for a bit of fun, the Shepton Mallet Leisure Centre is hosting a roller disco every Friday afternoon. The next session on 26 January, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, is a great chance for primary school children and older to skate the evening away.

A litterpicking walk will take place this Sunday in Shepton

Rounding off the weekend, Shepton Walks invites the community for a series of outdoor walks every Sunday in January. On 28 January, walkers are encouraged to wear their best woolly hats for a litter-picking walk, starting at 10 am from the Market Place.
