Compton Road in Shepton Mallet will close for ten days starting Thursday 23 May for surface repairs.

Drivers in Shepton Mallet are being warned to brace for disruption as Compton Road is set to shut for ten days later this month.

The closure – stretching nearly a kilometre from Cannards Grave Road to Ridge Lane – kicks in on Thursday 23 May, with workers on site daily from 7am to 7pm until Saturday 1 June, weather permitting.

The roadworks are part of a Somerset Highways pre-surface dressing patch-up job, with contractors Kiely Bros carrying out the repairs. The job is needed to fix up the surface before longer-term improvements can be made – but it means a full closure while the crews get to work.

Somerset Council confirmed that emergency services will still be able to get through if needed, but all other traffic will be diverted via Cannards Grave Road and Ridge Lane.

The works are expected to be wrapped up in 10 days.

Anyone with questions about the works can contact Kiely Bros directly on 0121 772 3800, quoting ttro272010E.
