Shepton Mallet's Collett Park has seen an uptick in anti-social activities, with increased incidents of noise complaints and minor fires being reported by local residents.

The disturbances, primarily caused by groups of youths after school hours, have prompted the town's law enforcement team to intensify their presence in the area.

The town's policing unit has been conducting visible patrols during both early and late shifts to deter such behaviour and provide a sense of security to park-goers. "We urge anyone who spots our team around Collett Park to approach us and discuss any concerns or issues they may have," a police spokesperson said. "It's vital that the community feels safe and supported, and we are here to ensure just that."

In addition to the increased patrols, the police are investigating several more severe allegations related to threats and assaults in the park. The local force has encouraged anyone who witnesses or experiences anti-social behaviour to report it immediately, either online or by calling the non-emergency number, 101.

"These high visibility patrols (HVP) are part of our continued commitment to maintaining safety in our public spaces," the spokesperson added. "Shepton Mallet is a great place to live and work, and through strong community-police partnerships, we are working hard to keep it that way."
