A new steel archway has been lifted into place at the entrance to Collett Park in Shepton Mallet this week.
The structure, installed off Cannards Grave Road, marks the start of the town's section of the Strawberry Line and features a recycled train wheel in tribute to the historic railway that once ran past the park.
The old line carried strawberries from Somerset to Birmingham and London, and its route now forms a long-distance walking and cycling path linking Shepton Mallet to Clevedon.
The archway was built by Dave Addicott Engineering of Chewton Mendip using weathering steel, and final surfacing work is being completed this week. It creates a clearer welcome for visitors heading to the park, café or joining the off-road trail.
Shepton Mallet Town Council says the installation is part of wider improvements to support active travel and celebrate the town's heritage.
