The Shepton Mallet Inflatable 5K, which was due to be held at the Bath and West Showground tomorrow (August 10) has been postponed due to the predicted bad weather.

A Met Office weather warning has been issued for high winds of more than 45mph on Saturday meaning the organisers cannot operate the inflatable obstacles safely for participants, spectators, and event staff.

In addition to the Met Office, the organisers consulted several other weather platforms and the outlook indicates not only high winds but persistent rain during the event.

A spokesperson said: "We have concluded that it would be unsafe for us to put on an event of this scale and unpleasant for people to participate in it.

"We appreciate it's disappointing news but as always safety is our primary concern."

Entries will be automatically transferred to the Bath Inflatable 5K at Bath Racecourse on Saturday 4th July 2020 with start times remaining the same.

No further action from entrants is required, and the organisers will be in touch closer to next year's event with all the relevant details.

Entrants are urged to keep hold of their entry pack and bib numbers, as these will be required on the day.

The spokesperson said: "As per our terms and conditions, refunds are not possible.

"However, if you're unable to make the new date, a transfer to any of our other events is possible.

"Please email [email protected] with your entry ID for further assistance."
