Shepton Mallet families are being invited to a free circus day in Collett Park this summer. Shepton Mallet Town Council says the event will run from 11 am to 4 pm, with workshops and a professional performance from Wookey Hole Circus.

The council has asked residents to save the date for the free event, which will bring circus skills into the park for children, families and anyone else who fancies testing their balance in public. A full schedule has not yet been announced.

Workshops will include low wire, hula hoops, fun wheels and juggling, all under the guidance of Wookey Hole Circus. The day will then finish with a performance from the professional circus team.

In its announcement, Shepton Mallet Town Council said: "SAVE THE DATE! Join us for a free day of circus in Collett Park with shows and workshops for all!"

The council added: "The schedule will be announced soon, keep tunned!" No booking details were included in the update seen by Nub News.

The event adds another family-friendly date to the town's summer calendar, with Collett Park again being used as one of Shepton Mallet's main outdoor community spaces. The free format means families can drop in without the usual school-holiday maths of tickets, snacks and quietly wondering where the money went.

More details, including the timetable for the day, are expected to be confirmed by the town council in due course.
