A haul of Shepton Mallet football kit is heading to Africa and beyond — carried out of Somerset by a one-man mission using nothing but trains and buses.
Julian Chenery visited Shepton Mallet AFC with his trademark wheeled bags to collect surplus kit, which he sends to grassroots teams in Malawi, Nigeria, Zambia and Ukraine. He also accepts new children's clothing for families in need.
Mr Chenery funds the scheme himself and uses donation hubs in places like Canterbury, Plymouth and Scotland to get supplies where they're needed most.
Sally Robertson from the club made contact and arranged the handover. She said the initiative puts otherwise unwanted kit to good use and saves it from landfill.
Clubs who donate often receive thank-you notes and video clips showing the donated kit in action overseas.
