Shepton Mallet saw a slight crime drop in November 2025, with 119 cases.

Shepton Mallet recorded 119 crimes in November 2025, a marginal decrease on the 123 incidents logged in October, according to the latest monthly crime statistics released by Avon and Somerset Police.

Violent crime — which includes assaults, threats and other offences involving force or the fear of force — remained the highest reported category, rising from 57 in October to 62 in November. This continues a trend of violence being the most common type of incident recorded in the town.

Other theft-related crimes, such as stealing unattended property or personal items, accounted for 11 reports in November, while shoplifting — theft from retail premises — fell to five cases from 15 the previous month. The drop in shoplifting contributed to the slight overall decrease.

"Criminal damage and arson", covering damage to buildings, vehicles or deliberate fire-setting, saw nine reports in November, unchanged from similar levels in October. Public order offences — which cover abusive or threatening behaviour in public settings — also stood at nine, down from 15.

Anti‑social behaviour, a broad category including disorderly conduct and nuisance incidents, dropped to nine incidents from 14 in October. Burglary, which refers to unlawful entry into homes or businesses, remained low with three reports in each month.

Robbery, where force or threat of force is used to take property, was recorded three times in November. Vehicle crime — encompassing theft of or from a vehicle — fell to a single incident, while drug offences stayed low with one report for the second month in a row.

A category labelled "other crime", which can capture a range of less common offences such as possession of weapons or handling stolen goods, accounted for six recorded incidents in November.

Police say monthly figures can take up to 30 days to be finalised and encourage residents to report suspicious activity so that records remain as accurate as possible.
