A Shepton Mallet woman's quirky creation has hit the road with Coldplay, as the band shared a photo of a knitted Chris Martin doll on stage during their tour set-up.
Sandra Witcombe, an avid crafter, made the naked figurine of the singer "as a bit of fun" after her previous nude knits, dubbed The Hive Five, gained popularity in the window display of The Hive Café in Shepton Mallet.
Coldplay posted a picture of the doll on their social media, thanking Ms Witcombe for her hard work and encouraging fans to donate to her fundraising efforts. The knitted Chris Martin has since become a small sensation on their tour.
Ms Witcombe spent 10 hours crafting the manoeuvrable doll, complete with a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet. Through mutual friends, the doll was sent to the band, along with a letter asking for their help in raising awareness for her charity efforts.
The Hive Café has been using knitted dolls to raise money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and has already raised around £5,000 for the charity. Now, with Coldplay's support, the total is set to climb even higher.
The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance expressed their gratitude, stating: "Wow, Sandra is at it again, and we are so grateful for her continued support! As a local, life-saving charity funded by the public, every bit of support makes a huge difference. This Chris Martin figure has truly put a smile on our faces today! Massive thanks to Sandra and Coldplay for shining a light on our charity today,"
