A new farm building is under construction near East Pennard, adjacent to the Glastonbury Festival site, and approval is now being sought for its use to store equipment for the luxury glamping site Festibell.

The building, located on land off Cockmill Lane, is part of a retrospective planning application submitted by agent Nick Hiscox on behalf of landowner Ty Cook. The application seeks approval for the construction of a modern "Dutch barn" covering approximately 1,250 square metres.

The land has been owned by the Cook family for over 130 years and is currently farmed by the applicant. According to the application, the barn is intended primarily for the storage of farm machinery, fodder, and other farming-related items. However, it will also be used to support Festibell, a five-day glamping event that takes place alongside the Glastonbury Festival.

"The new building sits on part of a land holding totalling approximately 77 acres," the application states. "There are no other buildings on the farm to meet the present and future needs of the applicants as they seek to develop the farm business."

The new barn will not be used for housing livestock, focusing instead on machinery and storage needs. It will also aid the farm's diversification project by providing storage for Festibell, which is one of several luxury campsites that operate around the Glastonbury Festival grounds, alongside sites like Camp Kerala and Love Fields.

A previous application for agricultural buildings on the same site was approved in 2019, and this new structure represents further development of the farm.
