Shepton Mallet charity car wash raises £1,900
By Laura Linham 30th Mar 2026
Firefighters in Shepton Mallet have thanked everyone who turned out to support a charity car wash which raised £1,900 for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The event saw a steady stream of people coming along to donate, with the crew saying they lost count of how many vehicles were washed over the course of the day.
Despite the long shift, organisers said the fundraiser was a success and praised the response from the local community.
The crew said they were tired and aching by the end of the day and had just started clearing up to head home when they were called out to an incident.
They were not away for long, however, and were able to return home in time for dinner after the shout.
The money raised will go to The Fire Fighters Charity, which supports both serving and retired fire and rescue service personnel, as well as their families.
The event was also a show of local support in Shepton Mallet, with residents turning out in large numbers to back the fundraiser and help boost the total.
