Temporary traffic lights are planned on the A361 through the centre of Shepton Mallet next week for roadworks.

The lights are scheduled to be used in Paul Street for two nights - from 7pm to 6am overnight Tuesday (December 15) to Wednesday (December 16), and then again during the same times overnight from Wednesday to Thursday (December 17).

They are due to be put in place to enable BT to repair a faulty underground cable in the area.

Other roadworks in the Shepton Mallet area that are set to take place next week include:

On Monday (December 14), Yellingmill Lane at Downside, near Shepton Mallet, is scheduled to be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm to enable HSC Worcester Ltd to renew a telegraph pole on behalf of BT Openreach.

On Thursday and Friday (December 18), Somerset Highways are due to be carrying out kerbing works in Fayreway, Croscombe.

Finally, from 7.30am on Tuesday to 5pm on Wednesday, Somerset Highways are set to be clearing vegetation and working on signs in Old Frome Road, Doulting Beacon.
