Date: 01.09.2019Time: 13:47Location: Limekiln Lane, Stoke St MIchael, Shepton Mallet2 appliances from Shepton Mallet, together with a Special Rescue Team from Trowbridge (Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service), were initially mobilised following a call from Ambulance requesting our attendance to help rescue a casualty that had fallen approx. 8m down the side of a quarry face whilst rock climbing.

Shortly after the crews from Shepton Mallet arrived and assessed the scene, the Special Rescue Team was returned en route, as their services were not required. Whilst the casualty had fallen, coming to rest at the base of quarry face, they were able to rescue them, working alongside Ambulance paramedics, onto a stretcher and then walking them out, down a footpath and to a place of safety. However, due to the location, terrain and nature of the rescue, crews were committed for some time, bringing the incident under control at 15:24hrs. Duty of care was left with the Ambulance Service.
