A series of pop-up events will take place at The Amulet in Shepton Mallet this spring and summer, offering local people the chance to explore the building and learn more about plans for its future.

The events will begin with an Open Day on Sunday 30 March, running from 10am to 3pm to coincide with the Sunday Market.

For the first time in years, the front doors of The Amulet will be open, allowing visitors to explore the ground floor and hear about the vision for 2025 and beyond.

Following the Open Day, monthly events will take place at The Amulet during Sunday Markets, with the aim of demonstrating the potential of the building and involving the community in its revival.

Volunteers needed to help prepare the space

Between events, a team of volunteers will be working to clean, decorate, and carry out simple building projects to prepare the space for the next pop-up event. Anyone interested in joining a volunteer work party is encouraged to get in touch.

The ground floor of The Amulet has not been used for some time, making these activities an important step in bringing the building back into use.

The future of The Amulet

The project organisers have thanked Coxley Developments Ltd, the building's owners, for generously allowing use of the ground floor while funding is sought to purchase the building outright.

Meanwhile, The Movement Gym will continue to operate from the first-floor auditorium as usual.

With these pop-up events, organisers hope to showcase the potential of The Amulet, engage the local community, and breathe new life into one of Shepton Mallet's historic buildings.
