Police take action against rising ‘door knocking’ anti-social behaviour in Shepton Mallet

The behaviour, which has been reported across the town, has been causing distress to residents, waking young children, and frightening elderly people.  Officers have been reviewing CCTV and doorbell camera footage provided by residents and have been working with local schools to identify those responsible. This has led to Anti-Social Behaviour warning letters being issued and Community Resolutions being used as an alternative to prosecution.  A police spokesperson said: “We take all reports of anti-social behaviour seriously, and we understand the distress these incidents are causing to residents. We are working with schools and using CCTV footage to identify those involved, and where appropriate, we are taking action through Community Resolutions.”  In response to the ongoing issues, officers are increasing high-visibility foot patrols in the affected areas and are urging residents to report any further incidents.
