An investigation is underway following an unprovoked assault on a 14-year-old girl at the Shepton Mallet Fair, Somerset, on April 22.

The teenager suffered a pair of black eyes and minor cuts from an attack carried out by teenagers around 7:30 pm.

Although she did not require hospital treatment, the incident has prompted an urgent appeal by Avon and Somerset Police for witnesses.

Officers are especially keen to identify a woman, believed to be in her 30s, about 5ft 3ins tall with dark brown hair, who came forward to assist the victim post-attack. This Good Samaritan's insights could be valuable to the ongoing investigation.

As per the police appeal, any witnesses, especially those who may have video footage of the incident, are urged to step forward to aid in the investigation.

Those who can assist are encouraged to dial 101 and provide the reference number 5223093581 or fill out the online appeals form.
