Police in Mendip have arrested three wanted people in a single day - and hope to take more into custody in the coming days.

The three were arrested at different addresses in Shepton Mallet and Frome.

Officers from the Mendip East Neighbourhood Policing Team also seized several weapons, including a baton and a bladed article, from addresses.

The action was part of a day of action on Wednesday (January 18) to locate people wanted on warrant for failing to attend a court hearing.

A spokesperson for the team said: "Information was gathered about the whereabouts of other wanted persons, and this will be followed up on in the coming days.

"Remember, if you ever have information that could help us, please don't hesitate to call or report issues through our website as it is a huge help."
