Plans to convert barn in Alhampton into a house are given the green light

A barn in Alhampton could soon be turned into a house after a planning application was approved by Mendip District Council.

The application for prior approval for change of use of agricultural building to a dwellinghouse (use Class C3) at Barn 3, Snagg Lane, Alhampton, was made by Mr M and B Osborne.

The proposed house will be built within the existing barn and will maintain all of its existing structure, sheeting and features.

Other planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been submitted this week to Mendip District Council include:

Erection of two-storey extension on east elevation at 1 Maryland Cottages, Smiths Lane, Ditcheat, has been applied for by Sarah Alexander.

Erection of a two-storey and one-storey extension at 2 Wickham Cottages, Frys Lane to Mill Lane, Batcombe, is wanted by Jonathan Tibbs.

Installation of hard standing and dropped kerb at 4 Middlemead, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, have been applied for by Mr David White.

Application to vary condition 2 (plans list 0360/001 and 0360/101D) of planning approval 2019/2186/HSE (proposed rear single storey and dormer extension, internal alterations and erection of garages and store/workshop to land at rear), to allow for patio doors on south and west elevation of garage, continuation of attic trusses above the gym and workshop at Karim, Station Road, Wanstrow, has been made by Mrs Catherine Kelly.

Removal of condition 3 (agricultural tie) of permission 094525/003 (renewal - conversion of disused byre to dwellinghouse for agricultural workers occupation at the rear of the Villa, Wraxall) at Wraxall Vineyard, Wraxall Road, Wraxall, is wanted by Jacky Brayton and Brian Shirley.

Proposed works to tree/s in a Conservation Area: T1 (Yew) - reduce by 1.5-2m at Staddle Stones, Queen's Road, Evercreech, have been applied for by Mrs Moon.

Works to trees covered by TPO M93 (G1) at the Church of St Peter, Church View, Evercreech, are wanted.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been decided this week by Mendip District Council include:

Single storey rear extension, erection of a dormer to the east elevation and first floor extension above existing garage at 160 Stockhill Road, Chilcompton, by Mr N Button have been approved.

Two storey extension to the north west of dwelling, erection of a detached double garage and relocation of vehicular access at Orchard Barn, Upper Benter to Stockhill, Chilcompton, by Mr and Mrs Miles and Tina Hadrill have been approved.

Proposed construction of one polytunnel 3.7x9.1m and one storage shed 3x5.2m on land at Studley Lane, Wanstrow, by Miriam Gould has been approved.

Application for confirmation of compliance on conditions 1 and 5 on planning consent 2016/1747/FUL at Pond Cottage, Susanna's Lane to Dark Lane, Stoke St Michael, by Amanda Taylor has been approved.

Proposed single storey side extension at Gunnings Cottage, Gunnings Lane, Upton Noble, by Mr Anthony Robinson has been approved.

Erection of single storey rear extension, dormer and loft conversion at Culverwell Paddock, Top Street, Pilton, by Mr and Mrs Paul and Trudy Murray has been approved.

Application for a non-material amendment to permission 2018/2744/REM for the approval of reserved matters following outline consent 2015/0527/OTA at Pilton Hill House, Crossways Lane, North Wootton, by Mr P Gordon has been approved.
