A planning application to build a house on the edge of Holcombe has been turned down by Mendip District Council.

The application for the proposed building of a single-storey two-bedroom dwellinghouse and associated works on land south of Budds Croft, Brewery Lane, Holcombe, has been submitted by Mr A Durici.

Plans to build a house on the site have been refused twice before, in 2015 and 2002, and this time the house was going to be single instead of two-storey.

However, Mendip still turned down the plan, saying that the application had failed to overcome the reasons for refusal the previous times.

The council said the site lies outside of the development limits of Holcombe and the proposal would result in an undesirable intensification of development on the edge of the village, and the proposed development would result in an increase in vehicular traffic along a designated public footpath which is restricted in width, resulting in the potential hazard, inconvenience and loss of amenity to all users of the right of way.
