Plans submitted to demolish barn near Shepton Mallet and build a house on the site

A planning application has been submitted to Mendip District Council for a barn on a farm near Shepton Mallet to be knocked down and a house be built in its place.

The application for the building of a two-bedroom dwellinghouse following the demolition of an existing barn at Hooting Ash Farm, Lambert's Hill, near Shepton Mallet, has been made by Mr J Morriss.

The barn consists of three bays, one of which incorporates a dwelling that was granted prior approval for the change of use of an agricultural building to a single dwelling-house in February.

The new proposal seeks to demolish the entire existing barn, including the bay with prior approval, and replace it with a new two-storey, two-bedroom domestic dwelling that will be built to a higher standard of design and environmental building standards.

Proposed alterations to garden room at Green Quarry Cottage, Farrington Lane, Doulting, are wanted by Mr and Mrs S and T James.

Approval of details reserved by condition 5 (External Facing Materials) on planning consent 2016/3168/FUL on land at Arthur's Bridge Farm, Snagg Lane to Redlands Farm Lane, Ditcheat, have been applied for by Mr Richard Miller.

Works to trees in a Conservation Area T1 - Ornamental Cherry - reduce height by 25 per cent, T2 Beech - Fell, T3 - Laburnum - reduce height by 25 per cent, T4 - Salix - reduce height by 25 per cent, T5 Mulberry - clear spaces for wires to pass through, T6 Cedar - reduce height by 25 per cent, T7 Silver Birch - reduce height by 25 per cent - excessively tall, T8 Whitebeam - reduce height by 25 per cent at Mulberry Cottage, Bread Street, Pilton, are wanted by Joe and Christine King.

Replace rotten/damaged front door and frame with traditional new style door, replace nine modern windows with period style, repair six stone original stone mullion windows, repair two 1970s reproduction stone mullion windows at Coombe Cross, High Street, Oakhill, has been applied for by Mr Martin Watts.

Application for prior approval of telecommunications development for the addition of a 0.6m transmission dish to be installed at a proposed height of 30m and a bearing of 290.6 degrees on the existing tower at the Communication Station at Batts Farm, Old Frome Road, Masbury, has been made by EE Ltd.

Increase roof pitch of garage to match main house with creation of hobby room and external staircase to hobby room at The Old Barn, The Street, Chilcompton, is wanted by Mr Jason Martin.

Retrospective application to formalise as built scheme from original approved application 2017/1856/FUL for the erection of three dwellings at Quarry Cottages, Garston Street, Shepton Mallet, has been made by Mr D Roberts.

Works to a tree in a Conservation Area T1 - Laburnum - Fell at Southwell, Shapway Lane, Evercreech, have been applied for by Dr Lindsay.

Works to a tree in a Conservation area T1 - Oak - Fell at Batcombe Village Hall, Back Lane, Batcombe, are wanted by Mrs Pool.

Change of use and conversion of existing barn/outbuilding to dwellinghouse at Race Horse Barn, Redlands Farm Lane to Prestleigh Road, Evercreech, has been refused.

Erection of detached dwelling with associated access at 2 Belle Vue, The Street, Chilcompton, by Mr M Robbins has been approved.

Erection of two-storey side extension and creation of vehicle access and hard-standing at 1 Mendip Vale, Coleford, by Mr Docherty has been approved.

Installation of two dormers and extension of existing dormer on rear elevation at Stream Farm, Stream Lane, North Wootton, by Messrs Ellis-Jones and Bayley has been approved.

Proposed installation of a 400mm Dish antenna, four Horn antenna and a ground based equipment cabinet, 330mm x 400mm x 230mm at Bullocks Farm, The Street, Wanstrow, by Voneus Ltd has been approved.

First floor front and side extension over existing ground floor structure and creation of parking space at 22 Finch Close, Shepton Mallet, by Mr and Mrs A Roberts has been approved.

Replacement of flat roof with pitched hipped roof at Herons Green, Longleat Lane, Holcombe, by Lucy McArthur has been approved.

Application for approval of details reserved by condition 3 (Materials Schedule) on planning consent 2019/1569/FUL on land north of Tweed Farm House, The Green, Coleford, by Mr I Harris has been approved.
