Plans to build luxury boarding kennels close to Emborough Pond have been submitted to Mendip District Council.

A planning application for the demolition of an existing outbuilding and replace with a single-storey kennels building, with associated access and parking at Le Brace, Emborough Pond Lane, Emborough, has been submitted by Dave and Charly Kimber.

The proposed building is to be construction to match the materials of the main dwelling, and positioned in a similar footprint to the demolished building.

The application says the possibility of converting the existing building had been considered, however the configuration of the existing building and quality of material did not lend to conversion.

The proposed building will provide a reception area, kitchen, cloakroom, cuddle room, and eight individual kennels.

Externally, the parking area would provide three spaces for drop off and collection, and the possibility of a staff member.

This family business will operate with family members living in the adjoining family home, therefore staff parking is unlikely to be used.

The scheduling of drop off and collection will restrict vehicles to ensure only one dog is dropped off or collected at any one time.

To ensure that dogs receive the suitable exercise in a well-controlled manner, only one kennel would be exercised at any one time.

This is planned to eliminate noise interaction with other dogs in the exercise field, in turn minimising any possible noise disruption.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been submitted to Mendip District Council this week include:

Erection of a greenhouse, a polytunnel and a fish house on land at Forum Lane, Shepton Mallet, has been applied for by Mrs S Ayton.

Application for prior notification of agricultural development for a proposed building at Brottens Yard, Brottens Road, Doulting, has been made by Banks Farm (Chesterblade) Ltd.

Works to a tree in a Conservation Area T1 - ash - fell at Orchardleigh, Rookery Lane, Croscombe, are wanted by Mr J Bluhm.

Application to determine if prior approval is required for a proposed: Change of use of agricultural buildings to a flexible use within Storage or Distribution (Class B8) at Manor Farm Dairy, Pound Lane, Downhead, has been made by Mr and Mrs J and S Cartledge.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been decided by Mendip District Council this week include:
