New housing plans and barn conversions on the horizon for Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, and Wells

A range of new planning applications have been submitted to Somerset Council over the last week, with proposals for new homes, conversions, and developments across Street, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, and Wells.

From barn conversions in Shepton Mallet to the construction of detached homes near Glastonbury, here are the projects under review in the local area.

Glastonbury:

  • Land South of Martin Street, Baltonsborough: Plans have been submitted for the construction of three detached homes—two four-bedroom properties and one five-bedroom house with a detached garage. Ref: 2024/1810/FUL
  • 16 Rowley Road, Glastonbury: An application has been made for a lawful development certificate, confirming that a 2011 extension has been implemented and is currently being used as a kitchen/dining area. Ref: 2024/1789/CLE

Street:

No new planning applications were submitted for Street during this week.

Wells:

  • The Old Vicarage, Veal Lane, East Horrington: Approval has been sought for several conditions related to a previous planning consent, including provisions for nesting bird and bat protection, reptile mitigation, and a construction environmental management plan. Ref: 2024/1812/APP
  • The Scrapyard, Southway Farm, Polsham: Prior approval is being requested for the conversion of an agricultural building into a dwellinghouse (Class C3) with operational development. Ref: 2024/1793/PAA
  • Haybridge Farm, Wells Holiday Park: An application has been made to remove a condition limiting the occupancy time for caravans on the site, which also includes a toilet and shower block. Ref: 2024/1780/VRC
  • Priddy Road, Green Ore, Wells: A proposal has been submitted for the erection of a livestock building over an existing concrete feed and loafing yard. Ref: 2024/1775/FUL

Shepton Mallet:

  • Lower Huxham Farm, Huckeymead Lane, East Pennard: Plans have been lodged for the conversion of an agricultural barn into a single-storey dwelling, complete with parking and amenity space. Ref: 2024/1804/FUL
  • Oakwood Farm, Strap Lane, North Brewham: Prior approval is being sought for the change of use of an agricultural building to two dwellinghouses (Class C3) with operational development. Ref: 2024/1797/PAA
  • Bridge Farm, Alhampton: An application has been made to approve details reserved by conditions, including a sample panel for walling and sustainable construction elements for a development of four new dwellings. Ref: 2024/1784/APP
  • Windsor Hill Lane, Downside: Plans have been submitted to demolish existing stables and construct a new dormer bungalow on the site. Ref: 2024/1645/FUL
  • Coombe Lane, Shepton Mallet: An outline planning application has been submitted for up to three self-build dwellings, with access and infrastructure details included. Ref: 2024/1350/OUT
