Planning application submitted for 30 holiday lodges in Shepton Mallet

A holiday park could be created on the edge of Shepton Mallet if plans to build 30 lodges get the go ahead.

A planning application has been submitted by Mrs S Crockett for the change of use of land for the siting of 30 mobile lodges for use as holiday accommodation at Cannards Grave Farmhouse, Whitstone Hill to Fosse Way, Shepton Mallet.

Approval has already been given for 25 lodges on the site, but the applicant has now submitted plans again to include five more lodges in a slightly larger area.

Other planning applications submitted in the Shepton Mallet area this week include:

Erection of a 10m flagpole at Holcombe Playing Field, Brewery Lane, Holcombe, has been applied for by Cllr Terence Dumbrell.

Change of use from barn to holiday let - Dwelling Class Use (C3) at Fosse House Farm, Fosse Way, Lydford-on-Fosse, is wanted by Mr Michael Green.

An application to remove condition 1 (agricultural occupancy) of planning approval 059004/005 (amend agricultural occupancy condition) and condition 5 (agricultural occupancy) of planning approval 1466 (erection of a dwelling) at Green Acres, Barrow Lane, North Wootton, has been made by Mr Duncan Forrester.

Proposed change of use from agricultural land to residential with the installation of single storey pitched roof extension and PVCu windows/door at Lavender Cottage, Old Wells Road, Croscombe, has been applied for by Mr Pearson.

An application for a non-material amendment to permission 2016/2811/FUL on a plot south of Halecombe Quarry, Quarry Lane to Somers Hill, Leigh-on-Mendip, has been made by Tarmac Ltd.

Renovation, repair and associated works at Prescott, Leigh Street, Leigh-on-Mendip, are wanted by Mr Guy Bryant.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been decided this week by Mendip District Council include:

Conversion of stable building to form holiday letting accommodation at Whitecroft Farm, Fosse Way, Pylle, by Mr M Pudner has been approved.

Proposed conversion of existing accommodation, first floor extension, and internal alterations at Vereker House, Pitcot Lane, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, by Lightcraft Developments Ltd has been approved.

Refurbishment works to include rebuilding external wall using existing stone, improve structural support to part of gable end wall, re-point property with lime mortar, rebuilding part of roof frame and replace bedroom first floor construction at Riverdale, East Town Lane, Pilton, by Mr and Mrs C Humphrey have been approved.

Single storey rear extension and two-storey side extension at 17 Linkmead, Fosse Way, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, by Mr and Mrs Lindley has been approved.

Erection of first floor side extension at 2 Sawyers Close, Chilcompton, by Mr Ben Daly has been approved.

An application to allow full and unrestricted use of existing vehicular access to holiday lodges from Hollybush Lane, currently restricted under Planning Condition 7 of Approval 2013/0964 to maintenance and pedestrian traffic only at Hollybush Cottage, Knapp Hill, Leigh-on-Mendip, by Mr Karl Tucker has been approved.

Prior approval for a proposed change of use of agricultural building to a dwellinghouse (Class C3) and for associated operational development at a barn on Maesdown Farm, Maesdown Hill, Evercreech, by Mr P Wiltshire has been given.

Replace existing garage and shed with a double garage, solar panels fitted to south facing slope roof at Green Shutters, Quarry Lane, Leigh-on-Mendip, by Mr David Sparkes has been approved.

An application for a non-material amendment to permission 2016/2811/FUL on a plot south of Halecombe Quarry, Quarry Lane to Somers Hill, Leigh-on-Mendip, by Tarmac Ltd has been approved.
