A community protest against racism is set to be held in Shepton Mallet this weekend, following on from the Black Lives Matters gathering last month.

The Peaceful Protest Against Racism event will be held in Collett Park from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday (July 26).

Organised by the same team behind the Black Lives Matters event held in the park in June, this event will again be based around the bandstand and will feature poetry, musicians and community art.

Among the speakers being lined up for Sunday are Pete Stevenson from Stand Up to Racism, Maia Thomas from Exeter Black Lives Matter, Kellie Simpson from the Somerset Multi Cultural Association, activist and Black Lives Matter supporter Sharon Stafford, Tom Baldwin from the Socialist Party, plus children's story teller Pete the Poet.
